After 20 years as a butcher, Luke followed his true passion—gardening. From maintaining a 200-acre hobby farm to tackling everything from hedges to lawns, he’s known for his perfectionist streak and love of a challenge. Laura manages the administration side of the business, giving them the ideal balance of hands-on expertise and professional support, all while raising their two young children.

It’s not every day you meet someone who can turn a polo field’s hedges into a work of art, then switch gears to create a family-friendly lawn and garden business—but that’s exactly the story behind Luke, the newest member of our James Home Services family. Together with his partner Laura, Luke is proud to be launching James Home Services Lawn & Garden Care – Leopold, serving his local community with professional garden care and the kind of reliable, friendly service that James is known for.
Luke’s journey to James began with hard work on a 200-acre hobby farm where nothing was done by halves—hedges by hand, lawns cut with precision, and every detail cared for until it was right. A butcher by trade for 20 years, he’s always been meticulous about standards and presentation, but his true passion has always been in the garden. Whether it’s keeping his own properties immaculate or tackling a tough gardening challenge, Luke thrives on the satisfaction of a job done properly. “I’m a bit of a perfectionist,” he admits, “and I like leaving things better than I found them.”
Laura brings her own strengths to the team, working from home as a case manager while keeping the administration of the business on track. Together, they’ve found the balance of family, work, and community that running a James business makes possible. With two young children, it’s important to them that their business not only provides financial freedom, but also creates opportunities to work side by side with their kids—whether that’s on school holidays or just spending quality time outdoors together.
