With decades of hands-on experience in forestry and truck driving, Brad’s no stranger to hard work. But it was the encouragement from friends and neighbours—and a growing list of “favour” lawns—that sparked the idea to turn his skills into a business of his own. Now, with the backing of James Home Services and support from his partner Gayleen, Brad is ready to serve the local community with reliable lawn and garden care.

“We’ve been helping out neighbours just for something to do,” Brad explains. “Now we’re making it official. I love the idea of working close to home and having a job I actually enjoy.”

Originally from Hopewater at the top of New Zealand’s North Island, Brad started working in forestry as a teenager, building roads and harvesting timber. That experience taught him how to push through tough conditions and stay focused, no matter the job. Five years on the road as a truck driver added to his strong sense of discipline and routine—but when it came time for a change, he knew he didn’t want to go back to the cab.
