When Schae moved from Brisbane to Mackay back in 2017 to play football, he never imagined that the city would become home in such a lasting way. But the combination of community spirit, outdoor lifestyle, and family life soon captured him. Now, after years of hard work in landscaping, groundskeeping, and heavy industry, Schae is taking the next step into business ownership with James Home Services Lawn & Garden Care – South Mackay.
Schae’s story is one of pride and perseverance. His early work as a groundsman gave him a deep appreciation for what it means to see a job well done—especially on game day when the results of his care were visible to everyone. Later, time spent in painting and blasting at Hay Point showed his ability to work hard and lead others, but also made him determined to find a career that gave him more balance, connection, and ownership of his future. Supported by his partner Riley, who brings ten years of administration experience, and inspired by his two young daughters, Schae knew the time was right to build something with his own name on it. “For me, it’s about pride in your name that comes from your work,” he says.
Schae is excited to combine his hands-on skills with his natural ability to connect with people. “I find it pretty easy to get along with anyone,” he explains, “and I enjoy the challenge of meeting new people and becoming mates along the way.”
