How much does it cost to start a cleaning franchise in 2024?

You and I both know you clicked on this article for one reason – because you wanted a straight forward answer to this question… so here it is!

$1000 + GST upfront.

$125 + GST per week. And we provide your equipment.

Simple.

Now we’ve got the important stuff out of the way… let’s dive in and cover this in more detail. 😊

James Home Services is the only franchise network in Australia (and indeed, we believe the world) to offer a Subscription Model to purchasing your business with us.

What you pay:

You pay an upfront fee of $1,000 + GST and then you pay a weekly subscription fee of $125 + GST for 5 years. After 5 years, we stop charging you this fee, and you own your business outright.

Just to be entirely transparent, you also pay franchise fees each week, which are a small % of your turnover. This is entirely normal – there is not a franchise in existence that doesn’t charge franchise fees.

I could go on and on about the normal upfront cost associated with starting a cleaning franchise; sometimes upward of $40K, $50K even $60K. But I won’t. Clearly you’re here because your intelligent, and you’re doing your research. So you already know this.

What you get:

When you start a cleaning franchise with James Home Services, included for your subscription fee is:

  • Your business management training
  • Your practical training
  • A roadmap for an accelerated start-up
  • Your uniform
  • All the equipment you’ll require
  • All the cleaning products you’ll require
  • Business cards and brochures, tailored to your business
  • We’ll sign write your car so you stand out
  • We run a dedicated and targeted digital marketing campaign for your service, in your area
  • Your own dedicated Business Coach to work with you as much or as little as you need
  • A business email address
  • A business management software portal for quoting, scheduling and invoicing
  • Your own page on our website
  • Endless marketing tools, training, templates and assets

Frankly, that’s just the beginning. If I kept going, this blog would go on for days. In fact, in your first year with James, you receive over $100,000 worth of value from our network. Ie, to do what we do for you, on your own, would cost you over $100,000. Stay tuned for another blog post going into detail on this!!

And here’s some other costs you’ll need to consider:

  • Insurances
  • Business name registration
  • A suitable vehicle (if you don’t already have one)
  • Suitable footwear (if you don’t already have some)
  • Legal and/or accounting and/or business advice (we strongly encourage seeking this advice prior to entering into any Franchise Agreement, with us, or any other franchise)
  • An accountant to assist you with your business tax requirements
  • A computer, laptop or tablet (if you don’t already have one)

By the way, under the Australian Franchising Code of Conduct, we must issue a prospective franchisee with what’s call a ‘Disclosure Document’ prior to you signing any Franchise Agreement with us. The Disclosure Document openly provides an enormous amount of information about our business, our model, our costs and more. So, if you did get to that point, an extremely detailed breakdown of all costs, including expected ranges, is included in this document for you to review.

So there you have it, a straight down the line article on what it costs to set up a cleaning franchise with James Home Services.
