After more than 35 years working in the corporate world, Jamie was ready for a change.
Not just a change of job, but a chance to spend his days doing something he genuinely enjoys.
For Jamie, that means being outdoors, working with gardens and seeing the difference a bit of care and attention can make.
Jamie has lived around Darley and Bacchus Marsh for most of his life and his connection with gardening goes back a long way. As a teenager, he worked in local orchards pruning trees and learning his way around outdoor work. It was something he loved then, and gardening has remained a part of his life ever since.
Over the years, Jamie has looked after gardens for family, friends and people in his local community. What started as helping out here and there gradually became something people regularly asked him to do.
He enjoys the simple satisfaction of arriving at a garden that needs some attention and leaving it looking noticeably better.
That practical background is only one part of what Jamie brings to his new James Home Services business.
His career in IT and management has seen him lead large teams, manage complex projects and build a reputation for being organised, reliable and a strong communicator. Those are qualities he now wants to bring into the way he looks after his lawn and garden customers.
For Jamie, good service is about more than getting the mowing done.
It is about turning up when you say you will, keeping people informed, understanding what they want from their garden and building the sort of relationship where customers know they have someone they can rely on.
And he is looking forward to getting to know the people in the communities he services.
