Meet our newest business owner – Josh

James Home Services is excited to welcome Josh as the newest business owner in our franchise family. As the owner of James Home Services Lawn Mowing & Garden Care – Bolwarra, he will be providing professional lawn and garden maintenance services to Bolwarra and surrounding suburbs

Josh was born in Cessnock and has called Bolwarra home for the past seven years. Growing up, he played rugby league and competed at a representative level for Cessnock. His career began in the Hunter Valley mines, working as a driller, operating drilling rigs to reach coal seams and setting explosives to expose them. Over the past decade, he has transitioned into truck driving, operating the massive dump trucks in the mining industry.

After years of working long hours in the mining sector, Josh was ready for a change that would allow him to spend more time with his family. The shifting schedules of shift work often meant missing important milestones like school concerts, and sporting events. Owning his own business became the ideal solution, offering him the flexibility to be present for his family while also achieving personal and professional success.

Lawn mowing has always been something Josh enjoys—it’s an activity that helps him relax while creating a visually satisfying result. When researching business opportunities, he explored several options before deciding that James Home Services was the right fit. The comprehensive support and training, especially in quoting and delivering quality services, made the decision clear. The James subscription model stood out as a great way to step into business ownership with structured support, increasing the likelihood of success.

With his background in demanding physical work, Josh is also motivated to improve his own health and fitness. After the holiday season, he recognised the need to get back into shape, and running his own business will provide the perfect opportunity to balance work, family, and self-care.

Outside of work, Josh and his family love camping and four-wheel driving, particularly along the coast. He enjoys fishing, especially for flathead on the beach, and has a keen interest in car meets, performance vehicles, and classic car restoration.

What excites Josh the most about his new business venture is the ability to work with customers who share his passion for maintaining beautiful lawns. He looks forward to helping homeowners achieve pristine outdoor spaces and is looking forward to the rewarding feeling of seeing a freshly mown lawn.
