Meet our newest business owner – Matt

A warm welcome to Matt as the new owner of James Home Services Lawn Mowing & Garden Care – Dalby. Servicing Dalby and the surrounding region, Matt is ready to bring high-quality lawn and garden care to the community.

Originally from Toowoomba, Matt has spent most of his life in the Darling Downs region. With a strong work ethic and a wide range of experience, his journey has taken him from pushing trolleys at a local supermarket to roles in warehousing, fast food management, and farm work. He then moved into the transport industry, where he spent a decade as a multi-combination road train driver. After a return to Domino’s in Kingaroy, he and his family took a leap and spent two years travelling Australia, financing their adventures through transport driving along the way. Now settled in Dalby, Matt was eager for a new challenge and a business opportunity that would provide both stability and flexibility.

Owning his own business was something he had always considered, but it wasn’t until he returned to Dalby that the idea truly took shape. Unsure of his next steps, he was offered work in both cleaning and lawn care, which sparked the idea to start his own business. With a passion for maintaining outdoor spaces and a desire to create something for himself, he decided to take the plunge into business ownership.

After researching his options, Matt decided that franchising was the right choice due to the support and systems available. He explored several opportunities before settling on James Home Services. What stood out the most was the James subscription model, which provided a structured yet accessible way to enter business ownership with the backing of a trusted brand. Knowing that he would have the support to succeed gave him the confidence to move forward.

Family is a driving force behind Matt’s decision to join James Home Services. While he was eager to return to full-time work, he also wanted the flexibility to spend quality time with his wife and four children. Running his own lawn and garden care business allows him to create a schedule that fits his family life while doing work he truly enjoys. Having always taken pride in keeping his own lawns and gardens looking great, he is now excited to bring that same level of care and attention to his customers’ properties.

When he’s not working, Matt and his family love spending time outdoors. Camping, four-wheel driving, and fishing are some of their favourite pastimes, and they enjoy exploring the natural beauty of the region. His love for the outdoors aligns perfectly with his new venture, where he can help others maintain beautiful and healthy lawns and gardens.

Matt is looking forward to the challenges and rewards of running his own business. While there are always uncertainties when starting something new, he is motivated by the knowledge that his hard work will directly benefit him and his family rather than enriching a larger company. He is eager to provide top-quality service to his customers, ensuring their needs are met with professionalism and care. Customer satisfaction is his priority, and he is committed to building strong relationships with every client. He understands that people want a contractor who listens to their needs rather than dictating what should be done, and he is dedicated to delivering exactly that.
