After an extensive career in teaching and the human services industry, Mark sought a radical change and found inspiration through the James Home Services YouTube Channel. Mark’s love for gardening runs deep. In his leisure time, he enjoys maintaining his own extensive fruit, vegetable, and flower gardens which he established on his hillside block in Malanda by digging swales on contour to create a food forest. He takes pleasure, with his family, in seeing the local wildlife frequent his yard. Gardening is more than just a hobby for Mark; it’s a creative outlet and a way to connect with nature. As a young man, he ran a part-time gardening business while studying, working with a client who taught him to see gardens as art. That philosophy still shapes his approach today. “I learned to look at a garden as a work of art and I consider the beauty in the contrast, colour, shape and texture.”
